Good Morning Tobago

For the Christmas vacation I visited our beautiful sister isle Tobago for some well-deserved relaxation. On the first morning I awoke from my slumber before everyone else and I decided to go for a walk to the Swallows just before Pigeon Point as it was the closest beach from where I was staying. The beach was very beautiful in the morning light, so I took some pics to share.

 Saw this leaf (above pic) which gave me inspiration for a pendant for a chain, may sketch my idea and post it  up some time soon.

I had to make these decorative pillow shams for my end of term Art and Design exams. They are suppose to be decorative and inspired by my country's (Trinidad and Tobago) national flower the chaconia.

Alien make up

         Well this post was well over due, this was a make up competition i enter to join my friends costume party "Alias" which I so wanna attend . So my friend decided to throw a competition 2 actually to help her promote her event. One was a promotional video competition and the other a make up competition; show us what is you alias. At first I wanted to enter the make competition only and wondered what would be an epic make entry. Well start wars came to mind I don't know why but it just did. i decided to do a male Torgruta. so to be all EPIC! and what ever i decide to going full fores and make the headpiece; lekku (head-tails), and montrals of the alien. 

         The headpieces was honestly rushed and wasn't formed properly and i did not want to spend to muck time on it and waste any unnecessary on it . i used items and material I could find now for now in my house. News paper, wire, paper glue, emulsion paint, acrylic paint where the material use to make my head piece.

 I had to buy face paint cause I  wanted good results when I finish painting my face. I used Graftobian make-up face paint.

Art Therapy

 Well my good and loving friend Mel is seeing some hard times and she is depressed and spaced out; staring in to blank space... this is well, not the Melly-Welly I know :( . She was only complaining about how she is not painting and needs something to keep her out of her state of depression. So one day she finally decided to start and  took this large canvas she had brought it to work. She gave it to me and some other friends (Shauntal, Xia and Arisa) to prime the bored by just splashing paint all over the bored. We had rel fun doing this (a real stress releaser it was), we were left with a colourful canvas board.

 Next step Mel  took Arisa's Avon calendar for 2011 and told Shauntal to draw these calla lilies which where in the month October. I then took Das air drying clay and molded the edges of the lilies and the thingy in th centre of the flower... lol, stock tissue paper and glue to form the body of the petal and a textured j-cloth to form the steam of the lilies. I began painting the calla lilies... yea at this time I wanted to paint the painting by myself, I was falling in love with it...teehee... but I can't do that this is for Mel and other to enjoy...It was late and Mel had to leave so i decides to pack up and go home as well. we left the painting in the artroom  Now the painting was in Mel hands.

 I went by Mel today to start that commission painting I was talking about and well... this is how far Mel reached with the painting. I really love what she has done with it. When i asked her if she is finished painting it she told me no, so I really can't wait to see how she is going to complete it. Will keep you posted on the completion of the painting. Hope she is having fun painting it and people please pray for Mel to return to her happy state, it really bothers me to she her the way she is :( . So hope you like our art therapy painting so far.

Have to Start Some Time

It’s a week since I started my blog and I haven't uploaded any recent content. Honestly I did not do any artist work for the whole week. Actually I’m lying did a design for a friend, he wants me to make costumes for his friend and himself, but I’ll get into more detail in another post as well as updates on a painting i'm going to start for commission. So today around 5-6 pm I tried to take a nap but was too restless, so i jumped out my bed and well found some wire and began bending it to form an armature of a human figure. What am I really going to make I am still decided the concept, but so far I formed a woman bending backwards.

• staple gun
• foil

So far I just got my armature attached to the base. i used foil to form the body and start giving it shape. not sure whats is the next step if to use paper mache or clay to form the body. but judging on how the body is bent i have to consider weight.

 

What the end product will look like I really can Say but I am experimenting all the way; will post updates on the progress. Thinking of turning it into a water Goddess something.

I'm a young artist living currently in Trinidad and Tobago. Art is everywhere over here, but not well exhibited so i'll try my best to portray the art in sweet T'n'T as best as I can, stuff i'm planning and all my expired here
